This week is Children’s Hospice Week here in the UK. Running from 11th to the 17th May, it’s the only awareness and fundraising week dedicated to children with life-limiting illnesses, their families and the services that support them, including hospices.
Today there are approximately 50 hospices operating across the UK that specialise in providing babies, children and young people with the care they need when faced with a life-threatening condition. There are also countless other organisations and charities working alongside these hospices, supporting their work by raising funds, providing resources and campaigning.
Here at Pennies, we’re proud to have some of these fantastic organisations among our beneficiaries. From national charity Together for Short Lives, which supports the UK’s network of children’s hospices and associated services, to hospices like Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, micro-donations made through the digital charity box are making a big difference.
Click here to find out how to get involved with Children’s Hospice Week – there are plenty of fundraising ideas and resources available – and keep donating via Pennies when shopping too. To date, over £80,000 has been raised for charities supporting children with life-limiting illnesses, thanks to customers donating digital pennies when paying by card at some of our partner retailers.
For example, donations made at David Lloyd Leisure clubs across the UK benefit Together for Short Lives, while Northern Irish customers ordering online or via their smart devices with Domino’s Pizza have the chance to donate a few pence to Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.
