Here at Pennies, we believe in the power of micro-donations to raise significant sums for charity and help promote and encourage a whole range of other charitable activities too. It sits perfectly alongside other fundraising initiatives that retailers engage in to support their charity partners.

Travelodge and Macmillan Cancer Support are a great example of such a partnership.  The UK’s first budget hotel chain, Travelodge began supporting Macmillan in April 2013 through a number of staff fundraising events and activities, as well as by offering their customers the chance to join in using Pennies.  Every time you book a hotel room online, you’re offered the option to round up your bill to the nearest pound in support of Macmillan.  In just 6 months, Travelodge customers have donated more than 45,000 times via Pennies, with those donations totalling £15,000.

Coffee Morning - MacmillanBut their support doesn’t end there because this year, Travelodge is also taking part in Macmillan’s national fundraising event in the form of their World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Last year more than five million people around the UK either hosted or attended a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event raising a record £14,957,191 and this year Macmillan are aiming to raise over £15 million for people affected by cancer.

To help them reach that sky high total Travelodge are organising coffee mornings across their hotels on 27th September. This is the perfect way to bring colleagues and customers together to have fun whilst raising money to help people living with cancer.

Every donation Travelodge makes will help Macmillan to ensure that no one has to face cancer alone. As more than one in three of us will get cancer in our lifetime, the money raised is more important than ever in helping Macmillan ensure that no one has to face the fight alone.

Make time for what really matters this September by taking part in Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning yourself on Friday 27th September. To sign up and take part, simply visit www.coffee.macmillan.org.uk or call 0845 602 1246 today for your free coffee morning kit.
