IT Support Analyst

Function Summary

The IT Support Analyst is a key member of the Finance and Operations team responsible for processing donation data through internal back-office systems, and who works closely with other team members providing data analysis and management information.

The role includes supporting the Pennies team by helping to resolve IT-related issues. This is very much a hands-on technical role in a small but rapidly growing charity.

Pennies’ back-office systems have been designed and built in-house, and the IT Support Analyst will be responsible for providing system development support including coding, testing, database administration, documentation and debugging. The role may also include business analysis, mapping data flows, reviewing Pennies’ current systems, and working on how the systems may be improved and upgraded to meet the challenge of Pennies’ growth over the next few years.

The role would suit someone who has had some system development and analysis experience and who wishes to develop these skills further. This is an opportunity to get involved at an exciting stage of Pennies’ development and be part of Pennies’ transformative effect on people and communities across the country.

Role accountabilities

You will:

  • Ensure the timely processing of data through Pennies’ back-office system which manages the receipt of monies from merchants to the granting of monies to charities.
  • Take ownership of operational issues.
  • Assist and advise the Pennies team in the effective use of applications and information technology.
  • Serve as a liaison and facilitator with the Pennies team to assist in addressing and resolving IT software and hardware issues.
  • Provide programming for in-house IT projects.
  • Provide database administration in live and test environments.
  • Analyse and report upon data contained in the database.
  • Write technical procedures and documentation for the applications including operations, user guides, etc.
  • Assist in the creation of the system design and functional specifications for new development projects and for the improvement of existing applications.
  • Perform business analysis and document data flows.
  • Investigate and resolve system functionality and data-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing requirements.
Experience & qualifications

Essential

  • Experience of IT development from design through to implementation (preferably .net).
  • Experience of relational database development and administration (preferably SQL Server).
  • Experience in the development and implementation of standards, procedures and guidelines to support operational processes.
  • Experience of operational management and resolving IT software- and hardware-related issues
  • Good working knowledge skills with Microsoft Office products

Desirable

  • Experience of Qlik Sense or similar data visualization software.
  • Experience in business analysis and gathering requirements with colleagues and customers at all levels.
  • Experience of working with Salesforce CRM system and Microsoft SharePoint.
