The Pennies team is supported by our fantastic ambassador and governed by a board of trustees who are all volunteers. Our trustees are responsible for the overall direction and development of Pennies through good governance and clear strategic planning, ensuring that we are well run and delivering our charitable objectives. The skills, expertise and support provided by our ambassador and trustees from across the retail, payments, charity and business sectors help make Pennies a success.

Joint Managing Partner, Rothschild & Co Gestion and Head of Global Advisory, Rothschild & Co
Since joining Rothschild & Co in 1998 Robert was appointed UK Head of Mergers and Acquisitions in 2001, UK Head of Global Advisory in 2008, and Head of Global Advisory worldwide in 2013. He was appointed a Managing Partner in 2016 and co-Chairman of the Group Executive Committee in 2018. Prior to joining Rothschild & Co, Robert was a Director and UK Head of M&A at Morgan Grenfell & Co Limited. Robert is also an Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of the NYSE listed Manchester United plc.
Executive Chairman, Telereal Trillium
Graham was appointed Executive Chairman of Telereal Trillium in April 2018. Prior to that Graham was the Chief Executive of Telereal Trillium, when he led the joint venture which set up the company in 2001. Before joining Telereal, Graham was Chief Investment Officer of Talisman Global Asset Management. Prior to that, he was a fund manager at Merrill Lynch Investment Management and also worked for BT Group plc. He read Economics at Cambridge University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), the Association of Corporate Treasurers (AMCT) and the UK Society of Investment Professionals (ASIP).
CEO Private Investment Office, Sanlam UK
Penny is CEO of the Private Investment Office at Sanlam UK, a leading provider of high quality investment and financial planning services. Penny was formerly Head of Private Client Services at Close Brothers, and Managing Director in the Private Banking & Trust business at Rothschild. Previously she was Head of Business Development for Fleming Family and Partners. Penny is also a trustee of Prism the Gift Fund.
Partner, Simmons & Simmons
Julian is a partner of the international law firm Simmons & Simmons, where he is the International Head of Employment and sits on the firm’s Executive Committee. He provides advice to a wide range of clients, principally institutions in the financial services industry. Earlier in his career, he practised as a barrister for five years and worked as a teacher. He is also involved in a mentoring scheme for charity chief executives.
Deputy Chairman, Coventry Building Society
Peter is currently Deputy Chairman of the Coventry, the UK’s second largest Building Society and Chairman of truRating, a company which provides multi-channel customer insights in real time. He has been President of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), a Board Director of Investors in People (UK) and Chairman of Monitise. His Executive career was spent almost entirely in Retail Banking and Payments. Peter was President & CEO of Visa Europe and prior to that was a Group Board Director of Lloyds TSB with responsibility for the Retail Bank.
Chairman, Joules and Sofology
Non-Executive Chairman at Joules and Chairman at Sofology. Prior to this Ian was the CEO at DFS and previously enjoyed a number of Buying and Marketing roles at Boots, culminating in his appointment to the Boots Executive 10 years ago, as Trading Director. In 2014 Ian became Chairman of the BRC Policy Board and Shoe Zone PLC.
Volunteer Finance Director, Pennies
Most recently Peter was the Finance Director of Puzzler Media Ltd, the UK leading puzzle magazine publisher and puzzle content provider. He joined in 1988 and was involved in all the company’s major strategic decisions, including disposals, acquisitions and mergers. Peter was also involved in the Management Buyout in April 2002 and the secondary Management Buyout in December 2005. Peter has also held roles in Esso Petroleum Ireland and Arthur Young Ireland (now Ernst & Young).
