Dorset Mind

For better mental health

Around 1 in 4 people will suffer from some form of diagnosable mental health problem during their lifetime. The most common mental health problems are anxiety and depression, but there are many others. The charity educates, challenges stigma and provides support towards peoples’ wellbeing and positive mental health. They deliver many support groups, an accredited befriending service, and offer training. Currently, Dorset Mind has two big campaigns: ‘Dorset Mind Your Head’ which is a complete holistic programme of youth services to support Young People’s mental health; and ‘Dorset Mind Works’ aims to tackle the stigma of mental health in the workplace, supporting employers and employees with their mental health at work.

This year, Dorset Mind plans to expand their support services to West and North Dorset, starting by taking their accredited Befriending service and support groups to Dorchester, Sherborne, Shaftsbury and Gillingham. As an affiliate of Mind the charity generates all their income, and doesn’t receive direct funding from national Mind or the high street Mind Shops. That’s why your micro-donations are so important – every penny helps Dorset Mind educate and support local people towards positive mental health.
