Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

Training hearing dogs who transform deaf people’s lives

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a national charity that trains dogs to alert deaf people to important sounds such as the doorbell, alarm clock and fire alarm. These dogs not only provide safety and security, they are also wonderful companions, providing invaluable friendship and confidence to those with hearing loss. They accompany their recipient both in the home, and in public places such as shops, restaurants and on public transport.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People has matched thousands of dogs with deaf recipients since 1982. At the moment, they have over 900 working hearing dog partnerships across the UK, making sure that, once a deaf person has been matched with a hearing dog, they are guaranteed a hearing dog for life. The cost to train and support each hearing dog throughout their lifetime is £40,000 – so your contributions, even simple Pennies micro-donations, make a world of difference.
