Home-Start UK

Support and friendship for families

Every child deserves the best possible start in life – and all parents want to give that to their children. But being a parent isn’t easy and when parents suffer tragedy and hardship children can suffer for a lifetime. There is a Home-Start UK volunteer working with one in every 237 families in the UK. Offering practical and emotional support, they help parents through poverty, post-natal depression, isolation, multiple births, disability, financial difficulties, illness, substance abuse, and more.

Volunteers work alongside parents to help them cope with the stresses and strains of life, making sure they have the skills, time and strength they need to nurture their children. Home-Start UK can’t provide this lifeline without support from the public and donations made through Pennies support families like Beth’s and like Michael’s, whose Home-Start volunteer helped make sure his grand-daughters got the best possible start in life.
