During this unprecedented and uncertain time, Pennies is proud to announce that we will be supporting National Emergencies Trust (NET) through our partnered fashion retailer, Warehouse.
Warehouse launched Pennies online and in-app at the start of March this year in time for International Women’s Day – with donations throughout March supporting Rosa, the UK fund for women and girls. Hundreds of pounds has been raised in the first few weeks to help fund grassroots women’s organisations across the country.
As a response to the recent coronavirus crisis, Warehouse have now chosen to support the National Emergencies Trust (NET) through their Pennies donations. From today, 1st April, when you shop online on in-app with Warehouse, you’ll have the chance to make a micro-donation to NET’s Coronavirus Appeal at the checkout.
NET is an independent charity that collaborates with other charities and bodies to raise and distribute money at the time of a domestic disaster. Launched by the Duke of Cambridge, NET’s Coronavirus Appeal aims to raise funds to be able to provide local charities and grassroots organisations throughout the UK the vital support they need to help, the people who need it the most, in the quickest way possible.
NET works collaboratively with a wide range of organisations to ensure the maximum amount of money is raised and is distributed effectively and fairly to those organisations who can do most to help those in need in the time of a domestic disaster. NET distributes funds to its network of 46 Community Foundations across the UK – and these groups are well-placed to understand who is impacted locally, and how, and what help they need.
Any donation you give to NET through Pennies will collectively amount to people receiving the support that they urgently need during these unique times.
The current climate has confirmed to us that the need for more opportunities to donate digitally has never been greater. If we each donate just 35p a week when purchasing online, we could raise £1billion for charities that are losing income elsewhere. If you are a retailer that would like to support causes like NET through online or in-app purchases, please do not hesitate to contact Pennies. You can also find out more in our recent post here.
