We are pleased that in our first year of being live with Pennies we have been shortlisted by Third Sector magazine for its Britain’s Most Admired Charities 2011 awards in the Most Innovative Charity category. The award-winners are announced next week.
The Pennies Foundation is one of six charities to be nominated for this year’s most innovative charity category. All nominees have been chosen by Third Sector and a panel of expert advisers. And voting was restricted to chief executives of charities and voluntary organisations. There are three other categories in the Britain’s Most Admired Charities awards – Most Admired Charity Chief Executive, Celebrity Charity Champion and Most Admired Charity. Each of which feature very high calibre nominees including: Help for Heroes, The National Trust, Thomas Hughes-Hallett, Chief Executive of Marie Curie Cancer Care, author Terry Pratchett and music mogul Simon Cowell.
Alison Hutchinson, Chief Executive of The Pennies Foundation, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been nominated as one of Britain’s most admired charities – especially when you consider the fact that we launched to consumers less than a year ago.”
