Over the past two years, customers in branches of Zizzi across the country have been helping to raise funds for the restaurant’s charity partner, The Prince’s Trust, by donating their spare electronic change via Pennies.

Princes-Trust-Lewis-Cassidy-2-web-resized-199x300Helping young people in the UK dramatically improve their lives through practical and financial support, The Prince’s Trust has now received over £140,000 from Zizzi’s customers.  When you think that this sum has been raised just 20p at a time, it’s all the more impressive.

These micro-donations help The Prince’s Trust carry out their vital work building confidence, ambition and skills in young people who have faced any number of struggles growing up, young people like Lewis Cassidy.

Lewis’s life was rapidly spiralling out of control. Misusing a variety of substances, he was unable to attend college or gain employment and his general health was in serious jeopardy.

Homeless for six months, Lewis was referred to The Prince’s Trust Team programme, a scheme helping young people gain key workplace skills and confidence.

Lewis, 20, was given practical help that forced him to challenge his lifestyle. He was also in contact with the drugs and alcohol team to ensure he adhered to set plans.

A notable personal achievement was his increasing maturity and the pride he took from positive actions. He was a source of encouragement and inspiration to his fellow Team members.

Free from his addictions, Lewis is currently employed as an apprentice Electro-Mechanical engineer. With the intention of giving something back, he is also a regular volunteer with a youth organisation, having gained two industry qualifications. He has now become a Young Ambassador for The Prince’s Trust and has already started to inspire numerous other young people.

Just £1,000 pays for someone like Lewis to turn his life around through the Team programme.  This can be raised in just a week by customers donating at branches of Zizzi, and makes a lifetime of difference.
