It’s fancy dress time for some of Pennies’ recipient hospices as they celebrate Children’s Hospice Week
Donating through Pennies is an easy way to give a few pence to charity through our everyday life. There are, of course, many other great ways that charities fundraise, like getting dolled up in fancy dress, jumping out of a plane, or taking on a triathlon!
To celebrate Children’s Hospice Week, people across the country will be tapping in to their inner child this ‘Superhero’ Friday. Keep your eyes peeled for fundraisers pulling their best ‘flying superman’ poses in head to toe lycra as they encourage everyone to ‘dress up and donate’. Organised by Together for Short Lives, one of the charities that shares 25% of every donation made through Pennies, Children’s Hospice Week raises awareness and vital funds for children’s hospices across the UK.
The first hospice to make Pennies live in their charity shops, St. Andrew’s Hospice, is of the charities set to benefit from the week and Superhero bonanza. The Hospice, which provides care for both children and adults, also receives donations via our Grimsby community initiative. Along with Together for Short Lives, St. Andrew’s is encouraging people to fundraise ‘superhero-style’ any way they can – fancy dress competitions, quizzes or even a five-a-side football match.
We couldn’t agree more with the campaign’s ethos that every penny counts, whether it contributes to the £1 it costs for a children’s oxygen mask or to the £15,000 it costs to fund a Care Assistant for one year. To find out more, or how to fundraise by donning your own cape this Friday, visit the Children’s Hospice Week website.
