Chairperson’s Award for the Best Non-Profit / Charities Initiative

The MPE Awards recognise and reward expertise and innovation in the diverse industries associated with merchant payments. This unique category’s theme changes annually, and this year was dedicated to an organisation supporting the voluntary sector – a timely topic given the focus on ESG and purpose-driven business across the merchant and payments industries.

Industry Achievement Award

Pennies took the coveted Industry Achievement Award at The Card & Payments Awards 2022 – which recognise excellence and innovation across the industry – in a triumphant return to in-person ceremonies held at JW Marriott Grosvenor House on 5th May 2022.

Partnerships for Good Award 2021, with partner, Poundland

Pennies is proud to have won Retail Systems’ Partnerships for Good Award 2021, with partner, Britain’s leading discount retailer Poundland. The award, formerly known as Retail Charity Partnership of the Year, recognises a company that – working together with a charity – has delivered tangible impact in and for its communities through innovation.

Best CSR or Charity Initiative

The Pay360 Awards is hosted by The Payments Association to recognise companies within the payments sector that have made significant advances in how we pay today. Pennies was very pleased to have made the finalists in category this year.

Judge’s Award

Pennies CEO, Alison Hutchinson CBE, was personally recognised with the coveted Judge’s Award at The Card & Payments Awards, held on 1 February 2018.

Best CSR or Charity Initiative

The Emerging Payments Awards recognises and celebrates the best the payments industry has to offer and in 2017, crowned Pennies ‘Best CSR or Charity Initiative’.  The award specifically celebrated our work with K3 Retail, unlocking customer donations for retailers including Hobbycraft.

In 2013 Google UK launched the Global Impact Challenge, inviting UK registered charities to tell them how they would change the world using technology. Pennies was selected as one of the ten finalists put in front of the judging panel including Sir Richard Branson, Sir Tim Berners-Lee and Jilly Forster, as well as Google’s Matt Brittin and Jacquelline Fuller.

Grantmaking and Funding

Pennies was proud to be shortlisted from hundreds of entries in the ‘Grantmaking and funding’ category alongside just two other charities at one of the sector’s most prestigious awards, The Charity Awards. Pennies was selected by an independent panel of sector leaders as having demonstrated outstanding best practice from which other organisations can learn.

Doing Good Online

Pennies was proud to have been shortlisted in the ‘Doing good online’ category at the Nominet Awards; celebrating the myriad of ways the internet being used as a force for good. Organisations shortlisted in this category were recognised for their work promoting charity fundraising online, using the internet to support or help others, raising awareness of causes online or running online campaigns.

Best Not for Profit IT Project

Pennies was presented with the award for ‘best not-for-profit IT project’ in the ‘Project Excellent’ category. Judges were impressed by our partnership with The Entertainer and their (then) payment technology providers Itim and YESpay International, which raised £150K in just one year for the retailer’s chosen charities.

Most Innovative Charity

We were thrilled to have been chosen as one of six charities to be nominated for the Most Innovative Charity category by Third Sector Magazine for its Britain’s Most Admired Charities 2011 awards. All nominees have been chosen by Third Sector and a panel of expert advisers.

Fundraising Award

The Technology4Good Awards were established to celebrate the work of charities, businesses and individuals across the UK who use digital technologies to help change communities for the better. We were exceptionally proud to receive to win the ‘Fundraising’ award.
