Age UK raises extra funds on the high street with Pennies
Each month, more and more charities start using Pennies in their own shops, raising important additional funds for their vital work. One of these is Age UK, the country’s largest charity dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life, providing services and support at a national and local level to inspire, enable and support older people.
Its shops on the high street provide funding that can really make a difference and adding Pennies to their card terminals has allowed Age UK to boost its fundraising potential. Within a few months using Pennies in just a small number of its shops Age UK raised £1,000, helping fund initiatives like the Call in Time Programme:
Age UK’s befriending Call in Time programme offers a lifeline to many older people, who would otherwise feel totally lonely and isolated.
Barbara from Devon has only good things to say about the service: “My loneliness was intense, until I began to use the services of Call in Time. This regular contact has made such a difference to my life.
“Having suffered from loneliness, I would urge any lonely person to use Call in Time. I really don’t know what I’d have done without their support. They have been a lifeline to me. They’re just so understanding.”
By adding just 25p when paying by card in an Age UK shop, customers are ensuring Age UK can continue to speak up for all those who have reached later life and protect the long-term interests of future generations.
