Pennies, the award-winning fintech charity, found in a survey that 48% of UK consumers would be more likely to micro-donate if they knew giving just 35p a week could raise £1 billion annually for charities.
Four Wildlife Charities to support with Pennies
Pennies is partnered with many retailers that support wildlife charities in an effort to keep some of the world’s most at-risk animals from going extinct. Below are 4 charities that you can support when you donate with Pennies at a partnered retailer.
Yorkshire Wildlife Foundation supported by Yorkshire Wildlife Park
The Yorkshire Wildlife Park Foundation (YWPF) is a dynamic catalyst for inspiring people to support animal conservation. The charity has been central to a variety of international initiatives to help save a range of at risk species including Amur Leopards and Tigers, Polar Bears, Lions in the wild and the Painted Dog. Your micro-donations, made when buying tickets at Yorkshire Wildlife Park kiosks, support these vital projects – including the Foundation’s recent work with the IUCN on climate change initiatives.
Wilderness Foundation supported by Medivet
The rhino poaching crisis (as well as other wildlife crime) is of national and international significance and affects all levels of society. The Wilderness Foundation recognizes this and is working in partnership with various organisations to address this issue. The Forever Wild Rhino Protection Initiative is one of the Wilderness Foundation’s programmes that was launched in May 2011 in response to the rhino poaching crisis. The initiative is concerned with maintaining populations of free ranging rhino within state and privately managed conservation areas. When you take your favourite animal to a MediVet, you can donate to the cause when paying your bill and help prevent the poaching of Rhinos.
WWF supported by Dixons Carphone
The fires in Australia have been devastating. More than 10 million hectares have been burnt, that’s the equivalent of 40% of the entire UK. With the money raised for this appeal, WWF’s Australia teams, along with local organisations, will carry out work including the provision of emergency funds to care for injured wildlife. After the fires clear, WWF will help restore homes for koalas and other wildlife, planting the first 10,000 trees urgently needed in koala habitats. Your micro-donations made through Dixons Carphone will support this cause, helping to make a difference.
Twycross Zoo supported by Twycross Zoo
Twycross Zoo cares for around 500 animals of 125 species of bigger animals, including many endangered species, plus hundreds of creepy crawlies too. Many of their animals are part of Conservation Breeding Programmes which help ensure a future for species on the brink of extinction. Their Conservation Welfare Fund has contributed over £350,000 since it was created in 2006. It has supported over 55 conservation and welfare projects from 27 different countries around the world. When you buy a ticket to Twycross Zoo to see all the incredible animals they have, you’re also contributing to a larger project to keep you favourite animals from going extinct.
Thank you for all the support with these causes so far. Your micro-donations have raised thousands of pounds for these causes, and you can continue to help when visiting these attractions or retailers. Your pennies can make a huge difference when they all add up to save the lives of animals all over the world.
