Booths teams up with Pennies to raise funds for local charities
Northern food and drink retailer Booths, has partnered with fintech charity, Pennies, to offer customers a chance to give to charity when paying by card for their food shop.
Supporting a variety of worthy causes
Booths’ customers can now top-up their purchases to support a range of local and national charities to fund their work helping a variety of worthy causes, including North West Air Ambulance, Macmillan Cancer Support, Bags for Strife, Andy’s Man Club, HoneyRose Foundation, Heartbeat NWCC, Prevent Breast Cancer, Ilkley & District Good Neighbours and Prostate Cancer UK.
Liz McEvoy, Retail Operations Manager of Booths added: ‘’We are pleased to be working with Pennies, offering our customers the opportunity to support our chosen charities. Pennies has enabled us to provide a simple solution at the point of payment where customers can discretely choose to make a donation or not. Working together we can make a massive difference to these charities and the work they do in our communities.’’
Alison Hutchinson CBE, Pennies CEO added, “We are really pleased to welcome Booths to the Pennies’ micro-donation family, and know that customers will be generous and appreciate being asked to contribute a few pennies to such a fantastic cause. We look forward to the months and years ahead making great contributions in our communities.”
An ambitious but achievable opportunity
Pennies have now reached the huge landmark of surpassing 185 million micro-donations across all of its partners – a milestone made all the more significant as growth in giving has accelerated in the last 3 years and weathered the worst of the Covid pandemic.
We have estimated that micro-donations present an ambitious but achievable opportunity to inject an annual £1bn into the UK charity sector – if every UK card holder gave just 35p a week.
