Sector Leaders Tracy Gehlan and Matthew Price Join Pennies’ Hospitality and Leisure Advisory Board
Tuesday 15th September London, UK – Pennies, the charity behind millions of micro-donations made through everyday card and digital payments, has appointed two senior food and delivery sector leaders to its Hospitality and Leisure Advisory Board: Tracy Gehlan of Subway International and Matthew Price of Uber Eats.
The Hospitality and Leisure Advisory Board draws on expertise from across restaurants, delivery, franchising and consumer brands to help shape Pennies’ work with partners in the sector. Tracy and Matthew join as Pennies looks to build on existing relationships with hospitality and food service brands and reach new audiences.
Tracy Gehlan oversees Subway’s operations across 44 countries in EMEA, and has spent over twenty years in senior international roles across the restaurant, franchising and consumer sectors, including positions at Hertz, Burger King and Driven Brands.
Matthew Price oversees Uber Eats across a range of markets in EMEA. Having joined Uber in 2015 he has since held a number of senior leadership positions across Europe and North America, including General Manager of Uber Eats in the UK and General Manager of Uber Rides in Canada.
Between them, Tracy and Matthew bring first-hand experience of scaling major restaurant, franchise and delivery brands – expertise Pennies expects to draw on as it works to embed micro-donations further with hospitality and leisure partners.
Alison Hutchinson CBE, CEO of Pennies, said:
“Tracy and Matthew have each spent their careers building and running some of the sector’s most recognisable brands, and that experience will be a real asset to Pennies as we navigate shifting consumer behaviours and the increasing importance of digital platforms in everyday transactions.
“As more and more customers seek convenience and speed in their food and leisure habits, insights from leaders working at the forefront of these sectors are helping Pennies to keep charitable giving simple, relevant and accessible for consumers.”
Since it was founded in 2010, Pennies has unlocked over £83 million for more than 1,135 charities – all from micro-donations. By working with retailers, hospitality brands and payment providers, Pennies continues to demonstrate how everyday technology can turn small change into significant support for good causes across the UK and beyond.
About Pennies
Pennies is a charity and the trusted leader in micro-donations. Since 2010, Pennies has worked with more than 200 brands to enable more than 338 million donations, raising £83 million for 1,135+ charities.
In an increasingly cashless society, where people still prefer to give little and often, Pennies is ensuring the public still has ways to donate the small amounts that are so vital for charities.
Pennies partners with merchants and payments providers to enable micro-donation opportunities at checkout, helping create huge impact for charities in need. Micro-donations give customers paying by card or digitally a quick, affordable and data-free way to add a small donation to their purchase – in-store, online and in-app.
Pennies’ vision is one day, wherever and whenever people pay by card or digitally, they’ll be given the opportunity to donate a few pence to charity. Making giving simple, every day. Because micro-donations matter.
