Pennies’ Micro-Donation Day 2025 Raises £42,500 in Just 24 Hours
On Monday 25th August, Pennies, the trusted leader in micro-donations, celebrated another hugely successful Micro-Donation Day. Thousands of shoppers chose to give a few pence to charity when they paid digitally, raising £42,500 through 144,000 donations in just 24 hours, all for vital causes.
Partners continued to raise awareness of Micro-Donation Day, and the collective impact of small change donations, all week long – from 25th to 31st of August. Across the week, more than 1,130,000 individual donations were made across all Pennies partners, supporting charities such as Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex, Cancer Research UK, Cure Leukaemia, Macmillan Cancer Support, Regenerage, Samaritans, Shout, Snow Camp, Tommy’s, and many more.
Now in its second year, the event brought together a growing movement of businesses and consumers using digital generosity to make a difference. Micro-Donation Day was supported by many well-known brands, including Booths, Central Co-op, Cotswold Outdoor Group, Gatwick Airport, Greene King, JD Group, Mamas & Papas, Motor Fuel Group, Millbrook Garden Centre, The Restaurant Group, Rontec, Screwfix and Shepherd Neame.

Building on the success of 2024’s inaugural event, this year’s Micro-Donation Day reached even more people thanks to the growing number of partners involved and special takeover events at Snow+Rock and Greene King, supported by Worldpay. The day highlighted the power of digital giving and how combining technology with purpose can turn everyday transactions into extraordinary impact for charities.
And with payments technology provider Worldpay match-funding donations at all Cotswold Outdoor Group stores and Greene King managed pubs this year, the impact was instantly amplified – raising an additional £2,262 on the day.
Alison Hutchinson CBE, CEO of Pennies, said: “Micro-Donation Day is a special moment to celebrate the generosity people show every day. We’re incredibly grateful to all our partners who helped make the day such a success – from Worldpay, for their match-funding and takeover events, to all the retailers and brands supporting micro-donations on the day. It’s amazing to see how much we’ve raised this year. Every penny counts, and when people come together, the results are truly life-changing.”
Pete Wickes, General Manager Enterprise for EMEA at Worldpay, commented:
“We’re proud to support simple, affordable giving through Pennies. As part of our Worldpay Gives commitment, we were thrilled to support Micro-Donation Day this year with match-funding and takeover events in London, helping every donation go further. It’s amazing to see how just a few pennies, added together, can make such a big difference.”
